While not always required, a pelvic ultrasound can be a helpful tool in diagnosing PCOS. It can help visualize the ovaries and look for cysts, although cysts are not always present in PCOS. A normal ultrasound does not rule out PCOS, and other factors like hormone levels and symptoms are also considered.
